How you can help wildlife
The East Bay is home to an amazing diversity of wildlife - from the endangered Alameda whipsnake to the common great horned owl. But as our population continues to grow, the risks these animals face grow as well. Certain animals are displaced and not seen in the area again. Other animals may become pests or may be victimized by contact with "human habitats" - everything from cars, power lines, windows, domestic cats and more.

With a little bit of knowledge, and a few changes in habits, our impact on the region's wildlife can be greatly reduced. If you find injured or orphaned wildlife then visit our hospital section.

Here are 11 simple things we all can do to help wildlife.
  1. Do not feed ducks
  2. Do not leaving fishing lines or hooks behind
  3. Do not use bird netting near the ground
  4. Do not use rat, mouse poison or sticky traps
  5. Grow a wildlife-friendly garden
  6. Hummingbird food recipe
  1. Keep bird feeders clean
  2. Keep wild animals wild
  3. Keep your cat indoors
  4. Prune trees and shrubs between October and December
  5. Reuse and recycle
