Gardens
The museum is surrounded by demonstration gardens that reflect the overall theme of living with nature. Four of the gardens feature plant communities representing natural habitats in Contra Costa County. A wildlife garden contains nectar and fruit-producing plants. Drought-tolerant plants with colorful flowers are the focus of another garden. Deer-resistant plants, oak woodland and a meadow are additional highlights. The gardens are maintained without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. A complete plant list is available upon request. |
