Specimen rentals
Natural history to go

Our collection features California native wildlife and other specimens for teachers, artists and others interested in the natural world. From tiny insects to a full-grown mountain lion, more than 10,000 specimens are available for rent. They can be great for introducing curriculum concepts, as models in art classes, to highlight special presentations, or to make a storytelling hour extraordinary.

Teaching kits and displays

In addition to individual specimens, many teaching kits and displays are available including wetlands, marine shells, rocks and minerals, bird feeding adaptations, plant dispersal, insects, spiders and butterflies.

Special needs?

Do you have a special need but don't know where to start? Our staff can work with you to recommend specimens that will complement your program or curriculum needs. For research, exhibition and other use, please contact the natural history curator.

Specimen checkout

Specimens are in high demand, so be sure to contact us about availability. Reservations should be made at least two weeks in advance.

Lindsay Wildlife Museum member:
$6 for up to three days
$8 for up to seven days (one week)

Non-member:
$8 for up to three days
$10 for up to seven days (one week)
